Prof. David Morton
Professor David Morton is a member of the Farm Animal Welfare Council and the European Food Standards Authority’s (EFSA) Panel on Animal Health and Welfare.
He is a laboratory animal veterinarian researching into the quality of life of animals, the recognition, assessment, avoidance and alleviation of animal pain, distress and suffering, and has over 250 publications.
He was a government adviser during the passage of the 1986 Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act and an adviser to the EcoSoc for the European Directive 86/609/EEC. He is a Trustee of various animal welfare charities (FRAME, FAWT) and chairs various committees on animal and human research, and hospital clinical governance.
